We are delighted to announce that Ticketer’s founder, John Clarfelt, has been awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to the bus sector in the King’s Birthday Honours List 2025.
John’s award recognises his outstanding contribution to the bus industry and the innovative culture instilled at Ticketer, which contributed to smarter, more accessible transport for operators and passengers across the UK.
During his time leading Ticketer, John’s passion for innovation, collaboration and customer partnership became hallmarks of the company’s success and growth. Never afraid to do things differently, John empowered the Ticketer team to deliver game-changing technology that transformed ticketing and operations for bus and coach authorities and operators of all sizes.
Commenting on the honour, John says: “I’m so proud to have received it. Glad because, yet again, I’ve managed to grab the kudos for other people’s work – it genuinely was a team effort from our founding. This is a proper recognition of the team’s phenomenal commitment to deliver for our customers and their passengers.”
“It’s also indirect recognition of our magnificent operator customers and local/transport authorities, who have backed us over the years to keep on developing for the good of the bus sector and the wider public.”
John will be attending the investiture later this year – as he insists – by bus.
From everyone at Ticketer, we send John our warmest congratulations on this incredibly well-deserved recognition.
