Ticketer is excited to announce its first live deployment of its new Enhanced Predictions feature, a significant advancement in real-time information (RTI) that delivers more accurate bus arrival times and faster updates during disruption for passengers.
Ticketer Enhanced Predictions launched on board First Bus, and in partnership with North Somerset Council and Papercast as part of a major upgrade to the real-time passenger information network in Weston-super-Mare.
Smarter predictions. Happier passengers.
Ticketer Enhanced Predictions builds on their industry-leading Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) data by applying advanced prediction algorithms to improve the accuracy of arrival times displayed to passengers. The result is more dependable real-time information, helping to reduce the impact of delays, diversions and cancellations while giving passengers greater confidence in choosing the bus.
The deployment powers new low-energy e-ink passenger information displays supplied by Papercast, with live vehicle data collected through Ticketer’s onboard ticketing systems across the First Bus fleet. Together, the solution provides passengers with accurate, continuously updated journey information while simplifying the technology required to operate a modern RTI network.

Delivering Enhanced Predictions by close partnerships
Funded through the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) and following successful deployment last month, North Somerset Council is now working with the West of England Combined Mayoral Authority to explore how the approach could support future regional RTI initiatives, with Ticketer ready to support as needed.
Adam Toone, Chief Operating Officer at Ticketer, comments: “Enhanced Predictions represents the next evolution of real-time passenger information. Our AVL platform already powers accurate vehicle tracking for operators and authorities across the UK. By introducing Enhanced Predictions, we’re taking that one step further, using intelligent prediction technology to provide passengers with even more accurate arrival information while helping authorities simplify the way they deliver RTI.”
“We’re proud that North Somerset Council, alongside First Bus and Papercast, is the first partner to deploy this technology live. It’s an excellent example of how collaboration and innovation can improve passenger confidence while reducing operational complexity.”
Councillor Hugh Malyan, North Somerset Council‘s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said: “Reliable real-time information gives people confidence to choose the bus, so this is a significant improvement for passengers in Weston-super-Mare.”
“We’ve listened to concerns about inaccurate information and worked closely with our partners to introduce a more dependable system. This investment supports our wider ambition to make public transport easier, more reliable and more attractive to use.”
Rob Sanderson, Head of Commercial for First Bus in the West of England, concludes: “This is further evidence of our strong partnership with North Somerset Council to bring practical improvements that enhance customer journeys and the overall passenger experience across the region.”
