Worcestershire County Council has launched Ticketer Tap On / Tap Off, marking a significant step in their journey to enhancing bus services in the region.

Offering a simplified ticketing experience with best value fares automatically applied plus enhanced data analytics, Ticketer Tap On / Tap Off has been deployed on board LMS travel as part of Worcestershire CC’s commitment to improve local transport whilst encouraging more residents and visitors to travel by bus.

Enabling Frictionless Travel in Worcestershire

By introducing this technology, Worcestershire County Council aims to create a more seamless travel experience, reduce the friction of transactions, and encourage greater use of bus services..

Ticketer Tap On / Tap Off is designed to reduce friction to travel by allowing passengers to simply tap their card or device as they exit the bus, supporting capped contactless fares and seamless journey tracking. With boarding times proven to be up to 70% faster, the technology enables quicker and more reliable bus services, helping to make bus travel a more attractive option for all.

Councillor Karl Perks, Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said: “We’re committed to making it easier, faster, and more convenient for people to use public transport and tap on/tap off is a big part of that. This is just the first of many improvements to the ticketing experience planned across Worcestershire.

“By making travel more convenient and efficient, we hope to encourage more people to choose the bus, whether for commuting, leisure or visiting the region.”

Enhancing Partnerships and Passenger Experiences

The deployment of Tap On / Tap Off is a testament to Worcestershire County Council’s forward-thinking approach to enhanced partnerships, and overarching aims of enhancing local public transport in the region.

Adam Toone, Ticketer Chief Commercial and Operations Officer, explains: “Rollout of Tap On / Tap Off travel is a major step towards offering a more efficient, flexible, and seamless passenger experience. More and more transport and local authorities are collaborating with us to deploy our technology on-board their bus services as it not only supports the principles of Enhanced Partnerships but can also be funded through Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) grants. We’re excited to see the continued growth of this initiative and the positive impact it will have on passengers, operators and authorities alike.”
