Ticketer is pleased to announce the launch of Ticketer Tag, a new vehicle identification solution designed to simplify fleet operations and help improve the accuracy of vehicle-specific information.
Developed directly in response to customer feedback, Ticketer Tag removes the need for drivers or engineers to manually select an associated vehicle per ticket machine, reducing administrative error and enabling seamless swapping between vehicles.
Vehicle identification simplified with Ticketer Tag
Currently live with Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and with implementation underway on Stagecoach, a compact microprocessor is installed within a vehicle’s existing wiring loom and uses a unique ID linked to that vehicle within the Ticketer Portal.
When the ETM starts, Ticketer Tag automatically identifies and assigns the correct vehicle, helping operators reduce reliance on manual processes and ensure the right vehicle information is available from the outset.
This becomes particularly useful where systems and functionality rely on knowing exactly which vehicle is in operation. By improving the accuracy of vehicle identification, Ticketer Tag can support vehicle-specific features such as vehicle checks and low-bridge warnings, helping ensure information presented to drivers is relevant to the vehicle they are actually driving
Shaped by customer feedback
Ticketer Tag was developed directly in response to feedback from customers, who highlighted the need for a simpler and more reliable way to ensure the correct vehicle is identified without relying on manual selection. By removing a manual step for drivers and engineers, Ticketer Tag provides a practical solution to an everyday operational challenge.
Designed with existing fleets in mind, Ticketer Tag can be retrofitted to vehicles with minimal hardware changes, making it straightforward for operators to introduce automatic vehicle identification across their fleet without significant modifications to existing infrastructure.

Accurate vehicle identification is critical; be this for day-to-day operations, contract and franchise monitoring/reporting, and the provision of information to downstream systems such as passenger apps. It also helps drivers by supporting the correct operation of safety-critical features, including Ticketer’s Road Restriction Alerts solution.
A core design requirement was ensuring it could be easily retrofitted to existing installations, as well as included as part of new deployments, by either customer or Ticketer engineers. It’s a great example of how listening to our customers can lead to simple but powerful innovations.”
